Being humble then, is mostly about being authentic. Our most authentic self is one that's intentional— speaks, moves and makes choices out of love and care.

If we put other people's perspectives before ourselves, it instantly makes us humble.

In most cases, we fake humility. Not because we're truly boastful or proud, but we try to belittle ourselves in the wrong effort of "putting others first". I guess this is humility by wrong definition.

Most of the time, this creates a disconnect. There's no authentic connection between you and the person you wish to put on a pedestal. Human connection is one of the things that are hard to fake and easy to spot. Humility then, is not raising someone up and keeping yourself down.

Humility and empathy goes hand in hand. You can't put other people's feelings first without giving way.

I'm a marketing and design creative. I love writing about authenticity (in marketing and life) and the human condition... as a way to make life a bit bearable.
